Ruth Oosterman has a talent for capturing emotion in the Han face, and body, whilst also relaying congruent emotions through background, abstraction, and/ or symbolism. Ownin three of her pieces, I find that often cannot stop staring a lt a particular piece, seeing new things, looking for stories behind the paint and canvas, marveling at her technique and choice of medium. She has a keen sense of space, negative space, what captures the eye, and what forces the eye to look away when that is the desired effect. Her work is insightful, and it often introduces the prevalent messages to current society regarding the issues and problems that we all must face.

I have personally seen many art pieces by Ruth Oosterman, and I have been impressed by them all. She has such versatility and it shows with the many different styles I have seen her work with. She has the ability to bring life to her realism and emotion to her abstract, and that is only one of the many reasons why I say that she is the artist to watch in 2013.
